The brief update is that we settled a package of approximately 6 articles, dropping a few proposals on non-priority items and making some gains. By far, the biggest victory we’ve made so far was that in bargaining away the “6-month temp for maternity leave” language (max is now 3 months for any temp assignment), we were able to get 2 temps turned into limited duration (and therefore PERU-represented) assignments!
This is a BIG victory for our union, and certainly for those two employees who are now protected by our contract – welcome to PERU (or welcome back, as the case may be)!
